The National Junior Honor Society conducted its Secret Pal activity as part of it's February service project. Each member drew a Middle School staff person, and then spent a week providing little gifts, treats, and surprises for their staff member. It was so nice to see our students get so in to this project! As staff, they made us feel very special! Students went above and beyond - treating staff to an array of special memories. From heartfelt poetry to floral bouquets, yummy baked goods, and classroom supplies, students spoiled their secret pal!
The National Junior Honor Society will be sponsoring a Teacher Lip Sync to raise money for a local family who recently lost their home to a fire. Students will be able to donate money into teachers' jars, and the teachers who have the most money in their jar will then perform their song in front of the entire MS student body! If students can raise a total of $200, all teachers will perform. What a fun way to help out our local community! Students, make sure to bring in your change and your bills and put your money in your favorite teacher group's jar!
The National Junior Honor Society teamed up with the National Honor Society to raise money for Heavenly Hats. Heavenly Hats is an organization that provides hats to cancer patients. One of the biggest fears of cancer is the loss of hair, and this non-profit organization - started in 2001 by a 10 year old - is a great example of the kind of service we wish to instill in our young people. On October 23, both the middle school and the high school students had the opportunity to donate a dollar to this organization and in return, wear a hat during the school hours that day. To learn more about our service project recipient for October, please visit the Heavenly Hats website.
